✝ It is with a deep sense of loss yet also great hope, that we acknowledge the death of our dear Brennan on the feast of our national patroness, Our Lady of Guadalupe, 12 December 2020.
Brennan R. Hill was professor emeritus of theology at Xavier University, Cincinnati, where he had served as Chair of the Department of Theology. He had taught theology for over forty years and is the author of hundreds of articles and more than twenty-five books, winning three book awards. Professor Hill earned his doctorate in Religious Studies from Marquette University.
Active in collegial leadership, Dr. Hill had served as President of the College Theology Society (CTS); he had held membership in the CTS as well as in the Catholic Theology Society of America (CTSA) and the American Academy of Religion (AAR).
Professor Hill participated in his local parish and served in social justice ministries in Cincinnati. He and his wife Marie are well-known for the marriage seminars that they had jointly presented throughout the region. He is the 2004 recipient of the Bishop Broderick Award.
